Tools for a better quality of worklife

Our students have different backgrounds with their education and work and speak many different languages. How can we turn this diversity into a diverse and innovative workforce? To get all students engaged in learning, peer learning is one of many ways our students can learn with and from eachother to gain new knowledge and skills, and actively engage in public life.

To open up the conversation, we created soft skills learning material to encourage students to map and recognize their competences and skills. We organized a cooking competition in the school kitchen where students could learn about themselves and explore career options. We focused on how teachers could share inclusive learning methods with each other, to enhance student learning and create supportive learning environments. In Oslo, civil society and influential voices with immigrant background were also invited into conversations and concretization of lesson plans.

Cooking Competition

Soft Skills and Qualities when looking for a job

By arranging a cooking competition, we can focus on soft skills needed in working life.  This is a team- based learning exercise. Students can in this way learn about themselves, their opportunities and explore career options.

As a school we can involve students in work-oriented activities at different learning arenas within the school which can lead to relevant work practice.
